A criminal case on the attempted murder of the former Garissa County Finance CEC Idris Muktar has commenced under Milimani Law Courts Chief Magistrate Wendy Micheni.

The prosecution council brought in a new witness in the case, Catherine Wamaitha Theuri, a police officer.

She narrated her first encounter with the first accused Mohamud Aden on June 2018, till the day they lost contact the same year.

In Theuri’s witness statement, she claims that she met the accused when he gave her and her colleague,Veronica Wanjiru, a lift to the marketplace from her then post at Rural Border Patrol Unit Campus at Kanyonyoo, Kitui County.

Aden told them that he worked for British Airways and they took interest in his work, and they exchanged contacts on alighting.

After a while, Aden started ‘hitting on’ her and they met at Blackyz lounge in Hurlingham, Nairobi at 1900hrs. “He was with a brown guy.” Theuri said in her testimony.

Sometime after their meeting, Theuri went for a work event at Nakuru. She was there when Veronica called her to tell her that Aden had said that he had been conned off Ksh 4M.

Theuri called him and he told her that he had been conned off Ksh 4M by someone he knew, they had schooled together at Garissa and was an official at the Garissa County Government, claiming that he would sell him a plot of land at Rongai.

On her return to Nairobi, Theuri accompanied Aden to Nairobi Administrative Police offices in Westlands, where they met Sheila Akinyi, a fellow police officer, who had trained together with Theuri, and Jane.

Jane had allegedly been conned once and offered to take them to DCI Kabete.

The case continues…
