Four Kenyan filmmakers who were arrested on Thursday night for allegedly publishing false information have been released from Pangani Police Station without being formally charged.
The group, Nicholas Wambugu, Brian Adagala, Mark Denver Karubiu, and Christopher Wamae were taken into custody at their studio in Karen, Nairobi, during a police raid that also saw their equipment confiscated. Their arrest sparked outrage among journalists, filmmakers and human rights defenders, especially as it occurred on World Press Freedom Day, May 3.
