A dawn fire swept through Musa Nyandusi Kegati High School’s dormitory in Nyaribari Chache, Kisii, destroying property of unknown value.
According to local Chief Alexander Nyakenyua, there were no fatalities in the early morning incident.
“The fire has been contained, and there is no cause for alarm, all students are safe,” noted Chief Nyakenyua.
The fire broke out around 4 a.m. on Tuesday and quickly swept through the dorm, which also serves as a store, destroying student personal items.
According to Chief Nyakenyua, who also alerted the police, at least 77 students lost their belongings in the inferno.
