Five suspects are in police custody following a security operation in Dandora Phase III that led to the recovery of suspected stolen mobile phones and Kenya Power token meters believed to have been taken from residents across the area.
The operation, conducted by officers attached to Dandora Police Station on May 26, targeted individuals suspected to be part of an organised criminal group allegedly linked to a wave of robberies, phone snatching incidents and theft targeting residential electricity token meters.
Police said the raid followed intelligence gathering and heightened surveillance in parts of Dandora, where complaints from residents over rising criminal activity had reportedly intensified.
According to investigators, officers acting on leads stormed a mobile phone repair shop in Dandora Phase III that is now suspected to have been operating as a collection and redistribution point for stolen items.
During the operation, detectives recovered 21 mobile phones of different brands and models believed to have been stolen from victims during robberies and street snatching incidents within nearby estates.
Authorities also recovered 12 Kenya Power token meters suspected to have been illegally removed from residential premises, raising concerns over a growing trend of infrastructure-related theft in parts of the city.
Police believe the recovered items may help investigators trace additional suspects and link the alleged network to previous criminal incidents reported in the area.
The five suspects were arrested at the scene and remain in custody as investigations continue ahead of their planned arraignment in court.
The operation forms part of a wider security crackdown targeting organised criminal gangs operating within Nairobi estates, particularly groups accused of targeting pedestrians, homes and businesses.
Police have urged residents to continue cooperating with security agencies by sharing information that could help disrupt criminal networks, recover stolen property and improve public safety in affected neighbourhoods.
Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
