Police in Kakamega have arrested five suspects found in possession of bhang and suspected stolen property during a weekend operation.
According to the National Police Service (NPS), the suspects were apprehended on Saturday, August 16, in Kakamega Town after officers received a tip-off from members of the public.
During the raid, police recovered approximately 1,412 rolls of bhang, uncustomed goods including 16 packets of Oris cigarettes, 25 packets of Milano cigarettes, and one packet of Supermatch. Officers also seized suspected stolen property, among them three 6kg gas cylinders and assorted household items.
The five suspects are scheduled to be arraigned in court today, Monday, August 18, to face drug-related and theft charges.
Police have urged the public to continue sharing information to aid in the fight against crime and illicit trade in the region.
