A tragic road accident in Nyandarua County has claimed the lives of five tourists of Indian origin, leaving several others injured. The accident occurred at Gichaka village along the Nakuru–Ol Joro Orok road as a group of 25 tourists was traveling from the Maasai Mara to Nyahururu.

According to police reports, the mini bus they were traveling in experienced brake failure while descending a hill near the Ol Joro Orok area. As the driver attempted to navigate a sharp corner near Uhuru Comprehensive School, the vehicle lost control and plunged into a ditch. It rolled multiple times before coming to rest in a potato farm, its roof torn off by the impact.

Stella Cherono, the Nyandarua County Police Commander, confirmed that five passengers died on the spot. The remaining survivors were swiftly evacuated and taken to various health facilities including Nyahururu County and Referral Hospital, St. Benedict Hospital in Nyahururu, and facilities in Nakuru. Medical staff at Nyahururu County Hospital worked urgently to treat victims, many of whom sustained multiple injuries.
