The assault case involving comedian Carren Chepchumba, popularly known as Bella Comedy, is now moving forward, with the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) preparing five witnesses to testify against the accused.

Bernard Kipkosgei Koyumi, alias Pavillion Motiryot, is facing charges of robbery with violence and causing actual bodily harm at the Kibera Law Courts.

He is accused of attacking Bella during the Kutit Cultural Festival at Carnivore Gardens on August 9, 2025.

According to the charges, Koyumi robbed the comedian of KSh 30,000 in cash and a Redmi 14 Pro smartphone valued at KSh 26,000, before assaulting her with kicks and blows that left her injured.

He denied the charges before Principal Magistrate C.M. Njagi. The matter has been scheduled for hearing on September 23, 2025, where the five witnesses lined up by the prosecution are expected to shed light on the incident.

Initially freed on a KSh 500,000 bond, Koyumi has since been allowed to secure his release through an alternative cash bail of KSh 500,000, provided he presents two contact persons to ensure his attendance in court.
