Flash Flood Halts Nairobi Traffic

A torrential downpour has flooded most Nairobi roads on Tuesday afternoon, felling trees and causing huge traffic.

Flooding was reported on multiple roadways in and out of the city amid active road construction sites.

Mbagathi Highway, Ngong Road, Valley Waiyaki Way, Mombasa Road beside Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, and City Cabanas were all congested.

The Authority asked cars to turn on their headlights during downpours to prevent striking pedestrians via its Twitter account.

“When driving in the rain, increase your visibility by turning on your headlights and keep an eye out for pedestrians,” the NTSA said.

Due to the continuing building of the Nairobi Expressway, the route has seen significant traffic snarls due to a reported lack of drainage.

ABC Place and Westlands are two of the major places mentioned.

Road users on Mbagathi Road have also been cautioned to be cautious after a video of a tree falling over the road surfaced.
