Florida Man Allegedly Shoots Wife’s Lover in Flea Market Parking Lot After 5-Year Affair

A man in Miami-Dade County has been charged with second-degree murder after allegedly shooting and killing his wife’s lover in a flea market parking lot, bringing a violent end to a five-year-long affair, according to law enforcement and local media.

The incident occurred on the afternoon of July 12 at a shopping center, where Miami-Dade deputies responded to a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers discovered a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds inside a vehicle. The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital but was later pronounced dead, the Miami Herald reported, citing a probable cause affidavit.

Authorities identified the alleged shooter as Omar Rene Aguila, 69, who is accused of gunning down the man in a fit of rage sparked by a lengthy extramarital affair involving his wife. According to investigators, the victim had been involved in a clandestine relationship with Aguila’s wife since 2019, a secret Aguila only uncovered in April 2024.

Upon learning of the affair, Aguila reportedly demanded his wife cut all ties with the man. However, tensions escalated when the victim visited Aguila’s home two days before the shooting, attempting to speak with the woman. Instead, he was confronted by Aguila, further heightening emotions between the two men.

On the day of the shooting, Aguila, his wife, and their son were shopping at the flea market when the victim arrived, reportedly to deliver food to a friend. According to the police report, the victim took the opportunity to once again approach Aguila’s wife.

Witnesses say Aguila’s son informed him that his wife and the victim were speaking. Aguila, who uses a mobility scooter, then drove to the victim’s vehicle and confronted him. A verbal altercation quickly turned deadly as Aguila allegedly pulled out a firearm and shot the man multiple times at close range.

Aguila was taken into custody at the scene and has been charged with second-degree murder. He remains in custody as the investigation continues.

Authorities have not released the name of the deceased, pending official notification of next of kin.

The shooting has left the community shaken and has drawn attention to the tragic consequences of long-standing personal disputes and escalating domestic conflicts. Police continue to gather evidence and interview witnesses as they prepare for Aguila’s upcoming court proceedings.
