A Machakos court has granted police officers seven more days to detain four susprcts accused of stealing Sh1.5 million.
Today, in a miscellaneous application by the prosecution, Principal Magistrate Sammy Opande of Kangundo Law Courts directed that the suspects be brought before him on December 18, 2024, for a determination on their bond/bail terms petitions.
The quartet will stay in detention at the Kangundo police station until next Wednesday, when their bail/bond application will be heard and decided.
They all pleaded not guilty to all the charges pressed on them in court when they appeared before Opande.
The charges include carjacking, kidnapping and robbery of over Sh1.5m.
The court had previously awarded each of the suspects Sh5m cash bail which they appealed in objection.
The suspects; Duncan Wambua Kimeu, Dennis Ndolo Mutunga, Wambua Kinyili Mutunga and Charles Mutinda Margaret were recently arrested after skipping court sessions.
They had been on the run prompting their arrests after the court issued warrants of arrest.
The four according to the prosecution on April 29, 2024, at Kambai junction along the Kangundo – Mwala road in Kangundo subcounty within Machakos county in Kangundo subcounty, Machakos county jointly with others not before the court robbed Titus Muteti Kilika one Samsung mobile phone handset, a National ID card, NHIF Card, Medical practising Card, ATM Cards of Equity, Family, Sidian and Shirika link Banks and cash all valued at Sh1,503,111 and immediately before or immediately after the time of such robbery threatened to use actual violence to the said Titus Muteti Kilika.
