Foden Scores Twice As Guardiola Men Drown Dortmund 4-1 at Etihad

Phil Foden produced a brilliant display as Manchester City stormed to a 4-1 victory over Borussia Dortmund, ending the German side’s unbeaten start to the Champions League.

The England international scored twice in spectacular fashion, while Erling Haaland also found the net against his former club in a one-sided contest at the Etihad. Waldemar Anton’s late strike provided only a brief consolation for Dortmund, before Rayan Cherki sealed the result in stoppage time.

Foden looked sharp from the opening whistle, testing goalkeeper Gregor Kobel twice before breaking the deadlock in the 22nd minute. Receiving a throughball from Tijjani Reijnders, he turned neatly into space and curled a precise shot into the bottom-left corner.

Just seven minutes later, Haaland doubled City’s advantage. The Norwegian striker, left unmarked in the middle of the box, met Jeremy Doku’s low cross with a first-time finish that gave Kobel no chance.

City continued to dominate after the break. Reijnders again picked out Foden in the 57th minute, and the midfielder danced between two defenders before steering another composed finish into the same corner to make it 3-0.

Dortmund briefly rallied as Anton beat Gianluigi Donnarumma with a low drive to reduce the deficit, but their momentum faded quickly. Cherki restored City’s three-goal cushion in stoppage time, slotting home after a clever move down the right.
