Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua is set to attend a church service at the Mwiki PCEA Church in Kasarani, Nairobi County, marking his first public appearance since the violent incident during a burial ceremony in Limuru nearly two weeks ago.
The attack, which involved rowdy youths damaging his vehicle, raised alarms about his safety and prompted him to cancel a subsequent church service in Molo, Nakuru County, due to fears of potential attacks.
Gachagua has not only cited concerns for his safety but also attributed the chaos to a withdrawal of security that he claims left him vulnerable to such threats, describing the events as an attempt on his life.
The state’s role in the situation has been a point of tension, as Gachagua calls for accountability.
In connection with the Limuru incident, Kiambu Senator Karungo Thangwa, an ally of Gachagua, was summoned for questioning but has denied any involvement in the chaos.
