Roselyn Akombe, a former IEBC Commissioner, has returned to Kenya after nearly six years overseas.
Akombe shared images of herself with the caption “No place like home! #Kenya” on Thursday.
She escaped to New York, United States, in 2017, a week before the re-run presidential elections scheduled for October 26.
In an interview with the BBC, she said she left in fear for her life, recalling the murder of Chris Msando before the August 2017 elections.
She described the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission as “under assault,” adding that it was split.
Akombe stated that the commissioners and other IEBC employees have received death threats. She claimed the death threats were anonymous and that she had been pressured to resign.
She stated again that she did not “feel comfortable enough to go home” at the time or in the near future.
