The Office of the Directorate of Public Prosecution (ODPP) has charged the former Kasarani Constituency MP Elizabeth Ongoro afresh over alleged fraud.
Ongoro was arraigned at Milimani Law courts where she was charged with stealing millions of Public funds alongside other nine co-accused persons.
According to the charge sheet, Elizabeth alongside the other nine accused persons stole Ksh 43.1m from Kasarani Constituency Development Fund (CDF). The said money was meant for the construction of Kasarani Girls’ High School in the year 2008.
Further, Elizabeth is charged with engaging in the construction of the school without prior planning which led to the embezzlement of millions of taxpayers’ money between May 1, 2008, and December 31, 2012.
She is also accused of acquiring Public funds amounting to Ksh 4m allocated for the construction of Kasarani Girl’s High school by virtue of her being the Kasarani Constituency MP.
She alongside the other accused persons denied particulars of the charges before Milimani Anti-corruption court.
However, her lawyers urged the court to maintain her former Ksh 3m bail given the fact that the case was coming up for amendment of the charge sheet.
The case is set to proceed on June 27, 2022 for hearing.
