Former MD Testifies As KPC Transformers Scandal Case Resumes

The ongoing hearing of the Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC) corruption case in Milimani law courts revealed how public funds were spent on the supply of new auto-transformers that were actually lying idle in the store.

Despite KPC allegedly paying for their supply, installation, and commissioning, the three newly acquired autotransformers were left in the store.

The transformers allegedly cost Sh30 million to supply and install, only for authorities to find out they were never installed.

Former KPC MD Charles Kiprotich Tanui and his co-accused Elias Wainaina Karumi and Josephat Kipkoech Sirma were both called to testify.

The suspects face charges of abuse of office and willful failure to comply with procurement laws.
