Joe Mutambu, a former Mwingi Central MP, nearly died after being engaged in a horrific road accident at Kavenge on the Thika-Mwingi highway on Sunday night.
His official driver, Jethro Kyalo Wambua died on the spot.
Mutambu was returning to Nairobi from the scene of the St. Joseph’s Seminary Mwingi bus crash into the Enziu River on Saturday, which killed his relatives.
The former MP had spent the day with other Kitui leaders, including Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka and Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu, who had stayed at the accident site until the submerged bus was brought out last evening.
After the twisted wreckage was pulled from the river, Mutambu, travelled back to Nairobi.
His driver has been taken to the Mwingi Level Four hospital mortuary.
