Former MP Passes Away in Dubai

Former Garissa North Member of Parliament (MP), Abdikadir Hassan Yussuf, has died.

The former legislator, popularly known as Tolly, passed away on Friday, August 22, 2025, while in transit in Dubai on his way back to Kenya from Australia. The cause of death is yet to be disclosed.

The news was confirmed by Fafi MP Abdikarim Osman, who expressed his deep sorrow and extended condolences to the family.

“I am deeply saddened by the passing of former Garissa North MP Hon. Abdikadir Hassan Yussuf, alias Tallie. I extend my heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and loved ones during this difficult time, and I pray that Allah grants them strength and patience to bear this loss. May the Almighty Allah forgive his shortcomings and grant him an eternal abode in Jannatul Firdaus. Inna Lillahi wa Inna Ilayhi Raji’un,” Osman said.

Abdikadir Yussuf represented Garissa North Constituency in the 5th Parliament in 1983. He is remembered as a dedicated leader who contributed significantly to the development of his community.

Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale also paid tribute, describing Yussuf as a respected elder and praying for his forgiveness and peaceful rest.

Family members, including his nephew Abdiaziz Mohamed Yusuf Ateye, mourned him as an inspirational leader who left behind a lasting legacy.

Funeral arrangements are expected to be announced in the coming days.
