Former Officer Brutally Murders Wife In Nairobi’s Pipeline Estate

A family in Nairobi’s Pipeline estate is grappling with shock and grief after the brutal killing of 27-year-old Susan Nabwire, who was murdered by her husband in the presence of their child and house help.

The young mother lost her life in the early hours of August 13 inside her rented home in Kware, leaving behind a one-year-old daughter.

Relatives say the family may never recover from the tragedy, describing it as an unimaginable betrayal.

According to witness accounts, the confrontation began when Nabwire’s husband, 44-year-old Cyprian Mukoye, returned home in a foul mood and accused her of infidelity. He demanded her phone, passwords, and M-Pesa PIN.

When she refused, the quarrel escalated.

By 3 a.m., Mukoye is said to have emerged from the bathroom with an axe. He struck Nabwire on the neck before continuing to assault her.

Despite her pleas, he went on to tie a rope around her neck and stab her repeatedly. Her body was later shoved under the bed.

The house help, who witnessed the ordeal, told investigators that Mukoye then sexually assaulted her while threatening to kill her if she resisted.

After the attack, he locked the child, the house help, and the victim’s body inside the house before fleeing with their phones.

Police broke into the house after being alerted by neighbours and recovered the body, which was taken to Mama Lucy mortuary.

Nabwire, who operated an M-Pesa shop at Machakos Country Bus, had been the family’s breadwinner. Mukoye, a former police officer, had been working casual jobs after losing his position in the force.

Police confirmed the suspect was arrested on Saturday and is being held at Embakasi Police Station awaiting court proceedings.
