Former President Uhuru Arrives In Nigeria On Election Observer Mission

Retired President Uhuru Kenyatta arrived at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja, Nigeria, on Tuesday, ahead of the country’s General Elections, in which he will be an observer.

The African Union (AU) appointed the former president to lead the recently launched African Union Election Observation Mission (AUEOM) to Nigeria.

The country’s general election is scheduled for February 25.

The mission will be supported by experts from the African Union Commission and will be mandated by various AU instruments (AUC).

The AUEOM, which is made up of 90 members drawn from various AU member states, will, among other things, engage various stakeholders and observe and provide an accurate and impartial assessment of Africa’s most populous country’s electoral process.
