Former Sofapaka FC midfielder Wisdom Naya has passed on.
In 2021, he was diagnosed with cancerous soft tissue sarcoma that affected his knee.
His mother Dinah Cherop confirmed that Naya died on Friday morning.
Last evening, he visited Crystal Cottage Hospital in Kitale in Trans Nzoia County where he had gone for chemotherapy and was admitted immediately.
He succumbed to complications from amputation of his left leg with the cancer spreading to his lungs and throat.
He was named Most Valuable Player during the 2018 Copa Coca-Cola Under-16 Africa Cup of Nations that was held in Nakuru where he played a starring role as Kenya won the title. He also turned out for St Anthony’s Boys High School.
He joined Sofapaka in 2019 but was forced out of action by what doctors thought was a knee injury. He parted ways with the club in 2020 after only one season.
