Former Teachers Service Commission (TSC) CEO Dr. Nancy Macharia has officially declined her nomination to serve as Chairperson of the Murang’a County Public Service Board.

In a letter dated June 25, 2025, addressed to Governor Irungu Kang’ata, Dr. Macharia cited a new opportunity with an international organization as the main reason for turning down the role. Her letter was submitted just a day before she was due for vetting on Friday.

“I hereby thank you for nominating me for the Chair of the Murang’a County Public Service Board. However, I decline the post as I have received another offer from an international body, which, in my opinion, could affect my performance in the said role,” Dr. Macharia wrote.

She further noted that the chairmanship would require full-time dedication, contrary to her initial hope for a part-time commitment.

Dr. Macharia’s nomination came soon after her term at the TSC was scheduled to end on June 30, 2025. Alongside her, Governor Kang’ata had also nominated Dr. Louis Mwende Musikali, Johnson Kang’ethe Kinyua, and Dr. Brian Lishenga Makamu as members of the Board, with Oscar Kimani Gathura nominated as Secretary.

Governor Kang’ata has yet to announce a replacement nominee following Dr. Macharia’s withdrawal.
