Four Arrested In Connection With Ongata Rongai Home Invasion

The National Police Service (NPS) has announced the arrest of four suspects have been arrested in connection with the Ongata Rongai home break-in that was captured on CCTV.

According to police spokesman Bruno Shioso, the suspects are currently helping the police with investigations.

“In the course of the investigation, detectives recovered one pistol of the Browning make, some cash proceeds of the robbery and items of clothing worn by the robbers on that fateful night,” said Mr. Shioso.

Shioso stated that the dragnet is being expanded in order to arrest more fugitives.

“The Inspector General has instructed a crackdown within the areas and environs of Ongata Rongai targeting organized criminal gangs terrorizing and robbing law-abiding citizens,” he stated.

He also urged the public to work with the police and share valuable information through available hotlines.

The AK47-wielding gang was caught on CCTV attacking the woman as she drove into her home.

They then stole money from her, which they later withdrew from a Mwiki agent.

On Tuesday, a special team of officers was assigned to the case, and they spent nearly 8 hours going in and out of the house, as well as neighboring houses, in search of answers.

The man of the house, only identified as an engineer with a top energy firm, was among those questioned and recorded a statement. On that fateful night, he’s said to have left town.

Police also dusted the car for fingerprints, which were then sent to the DCI forensic lab for identification.

Police suspect that a former police officer is part of the gang that has terrorized residents of Rongai and Nairobi in a similar manner: identifying a target, studying routines, and striking when least expected.
