Four Arrested in Nairobi Night Patrol as Police Recover Plastic Gun and Knife

Police in Nairobi arrested four men in the early hours of Tuesday morning and recovered a plastic revolver loaded with rubber bullets, along with a knife inscribed with the word “AK47,” following a night patrol operation along Kenyatta Avenue.

The arrests took place around 1:25 a.m. after officers received a tip-off from members of the public who had seen one of the suspects displaying what appeared to be a firearm at a petrol station. Responding swiftly, police intercepted the group inside a parked vehicle at the scene.

A search of the vehicle led to the recovery of the plastic gun, six rubber bullets, and the knife, raising concerns over potential criminal intent.

“In the early hours of 4 June 2025, at approximately 0125 hours, police officers on night patrol along Kenyatta Avenue intercepted four male suspects at a petrol station inside a motor vehicle,” the National Police Service (NPS) said in a statement. “The intervention followed a tip-off from members of the public, who had observed one of the individuals brandishing what appeared to be a firearm, arousing suspicion.”

All four suspects, who reportedly appeared intoxicated at the time of the arrest, were taken into custody for further questioning. The vehicle has also been impounded as part of the ongoing investigation.

Police have urged the public to continue providing information that could aid in enhancing security, especially in urban areas where criminal activity often escalates during night hours.

Investigations into the motive and possible criminal background of the suspects are underway.
