Four more foreign -based players join Harambee Stars camp

Four more foreign-based players have checked into the Harambee Stars camp, barely a day after a similar number walked in.

On Monday, the quartet of Tobias Knost, Elvis Rupia, Alphonce Omija, and Eric Johanna arrived in camp, boosting preparations for the forthcoming World Cup Qualifiers against Burundi and Ivory Coast.

Duke Abuya, Johnstone Omurwa, Amos Nondi, and John Ochieng joined the rest in preparing for the two matches that will be played next month in Malawi.

Kenya will take on Burundi on June 7 at the Bingu National Stadium before confronting the Elephants four days later at the same venue.

The two matches would have been played in Nairobi but the country doesn’t have a FIFA-accredited facility at the moment.

Both Nyayo and Kasarani stadiums are undergoing extensive renovations to meet the required standards and be ready for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations final.

Last week, the duo of Adam Wilson and Bruce Kamau were the first international players to join the Stars camp.

Azerbaijan-based winger Ayub Timbe is expected to link up with the team before they travel to Malawi.

At the same time, Richard Odada, Daniel Anyembe, and Captain Michael Olunga are set to fly directly from their bases to Malawi.

The team is tentatively set to depart for Malawi on Sunday, June 2.

Stars currently sit third out of six in Group F of the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers, having picked up three points from the opening two matches against Gabon and Seychelles.

Only the top team in the group, which includes Ivory Coast, Gabon, Burundi, The Gambia, Seychelles, and Kenya, will qualify for the 48-team World Cup, which will be played across 16 cities in Canada, Mexico, and the United States.

Additionally, four of the best runners-up from the nine groups will have a chance in a playoff that will determine CAF’s representative in the Inter-confederation playoffs involving six teams, which will decide the last two FIFA World Cup berths
