Four people were critically injured when a trailer lost control and collided with a stationary lorry before crashing into four commercial premises at Sachangwan Shopping Center on the Nakuru-Eldoret Highway.
According to reports, the truck was on its way from Eldoret to Nakuru.
The trailer’s driver, according to witnesses, attempted to regain control of the truck as it approached the center.
He drove off the road to avoid colliding with another matatu, then crashed into the company’s headquarters.
Molo traffic officers responded quickly, preventing residents from fleeing with their belongings. Molo sub-county Deputy Commissioner Josphat Mutisya and Sub-county Police Commander Mwenda Muthamia were also present.
“The accident took place around 8 am. A trailer lost control at the center of the Sachangwa shopping center. It hit a stalled truck before ramming into shops,” said area Deputy Commissioner Mutisya.
Mutisya urged motorists to obey traffic laws during the holiday season in order to reduce the number of accidents on the Nakuru-Eldoret Highway, which has been on the rise.
Two of those injured are being treated at Molo Sub-county Hospital, while the other two, including the trailer’s driver, have been transferred to Nakuru PGH hospital.
