Nairobi, Kenya – June 9, 2025
Four men, including three Ugandan nationals and one Kenyan, have been arraigned in court following their arrest in connection with a violent robbery that took place in Eastleigh earlier this year.
The incident, which occurred on February 3, 2025, involved a brutal armed attack on a businessman, Abdikafi Mohamed, and has since led to a series of charges ranging from robbery with violence to illegal possession of firearms and immigration offences.
According to police reports, the suspects—Sifoli Wafula Samu (alias Sande), Alex Ogamba (alias Toto), Clinton Wafula (alias Macho), and Mohamed Musa Nabukalasi (alias Moha)—allegedly robbed Mohamed while armed with a pistol and a knife.
The group is accused of stealing over one million Kenyan shillings in cash, $300 in U.S. currency, electronic devices including two smartphones and a laptop, as well as vital personal documents such as Somali and Ethiopian passports and a Kenyan birth certificate.
The four men were apprehended on May 23, 2025, during coordinated arrests conducted in various Nairobi neighborhoods, including Saika, Dandora, Pumwani, and Huruma. They were subsequently charged in court on May 26, 2025.
The primary charge facing the suspects is robbery with violence, contrary to Section 296(2) of the Penal Code—a capital offence in Kenya that carries a maximum sentence of death.
In addition to the robbery charge, the suspects face multiple counts related to the illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.
During the arrests, police recovered a range of weapons, including a Falcon pistol bearing serial number RFL/A912119163, a defaced AK-47 assault rifle, and a Parabellum FEG pistol with serial number L90589.
They also seized a substantial cache of ammunition: 30 rounds of 7.62mm bullets, 11 rounds of unknown caliber, and 9 rounds of 0.22mm ammunition. None of the suspects had a valid firearm certificate, according to investigators.
Further complicating the case, two of the suspects—Ogamba and Nabukalasi—were found to be in the country unlawfully.
Both men, Ugandan nationals, were allegedly residing in Kenya without valid visas or permits, in violation of the Kenya Citizenship and Immigration Act.
The accused were remanded in custody pending further investigation. The court is expected to rule on their bail and bond applications in the coming days.
Authorities have highlighted the seriousness of the case, pointing to the use of military-grade weapons and the recovery of multiple identification documents as indicative of potential involvement in organized criminal activity.
While the suspects have pleaded not guilty to all charges, police say investigations are still ongoing.
