Senior Prosecutor Found Dead in His House
Police in Nairobi have launched an investigation after the body of a senior Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions was discovered decomposing in his home.
Neighbors discovered Fredrick Ashimosi Shitiambasi, 47, of the Prosecution Training Institute, dead in his Nairobi home.
According to a police statement, the late Shitiambasi was ill and on sick leave.
The body was discovered after neighbors expressed concern about a foul odor emanating from his home.
The police were called in, and they broke the door, which was locked from the inside.
They found his motionless body on his bed.
It is suspected that he might have died of Carbon monoxide gas since a charcoal burner was discovered beside his bed. Police believe he died recently.
There were no visible signs of struggle on the body.
Kenyans have been warned to avoid using charcoal jiko in poorly ventilated rooms to avoid carbon monoxide poisoning.
The body was taken to a mortuary ahead of the scheduled post-mortem to determine the cause of death.
