A chilling discovery has reignited fears of cult-related tragedies in Kilifi County after four people were rescued from an isolated mud house deep inside Chakama Forest in what police suspect to be a revival of dangerous religious extremism.

Police confirmed that three women and one man were found alive, though visibly weak, inside a structure hidden in the forest.

Nearby, officers recovered the body of a middle-aged man and two human skulls believed to be the remains of victims devoured by wild animals.

Two of the rescued individuals had been reported missing at Siaya Police Station in April. They were last seen in March alongside their six children, who remain unaccounted for.

The operation was triggered by a public tip-off reporting suspicious religious activities in Minzaro Village.

Authorities have now cordoned off the five-acre section of Chakama Ranch as a crime scene, with DCI detectives expected to begin full-scale forensic and criminal investigations.

This discovery comes just over two years after the Shakahola cult horror, where 429 people died under the influence of extremist fasting doctrines.

The survivors are currently receiving treatment at Malindi Sub-County Hospital as investigators work to unravel the nature and scale of the latest suspected cult.
