From Predator to Prisoner: Collins ‘Voke’ Ochieng and Accomplice Caught with Loaded AK-47

Beyond the AK-47 rifle, police seized one magazine, four rounds of ammunition, and ten mobile phones suspected to be part of their criminal network.

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have arrested two suspects and recovered a loaded AK-47 rifle following a raid in Mombasa today, February 24, 2026. 

The two men are Collins Ochieng, alias Voke (22), and Timothy Omondi Mgowe (23).They are linked to the February 17, 2026, abduction of a businessman in Kisauni Sub-County.

The victim was robbed of “colossal sums of money” and abandoned near Mombasa Cement.A joint team from the Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau (CRIB) and the Operations Directorate conducted a raid on a targeted apartment in the Bamburi Fisheries area after days of surveillance.

Beyond the AK-47 rifle, police seized one magazine, four rounds of ammunition, and ten mobile phones suspected to be part of their criminal network.

In a separate but concurrent operation, detectives arrested a wanted fugitive in nearby Mtwapa. This suspect, linked to multiple robberies, was found with five rounds of 7.62mm ammunition.

All suspects are in custody at an undisclosed location for processing and are expected to be arraigned in court once investigations into other regional crimes are complete.
