The man suspected of murdering elite athlete Agnes Jebet Tirop has been arrested.
Ibrahim Kipkempi Rotich, the husband to the slain officer was arrested in Chaani, Mombasa County while attempting to flee the country.
Rotich is believed to have killed the two-time World Athletics championships bronze medallist,by stabbing her before going into hiding.
Rotich’s car was found crashed into a lorry along Mombasa Road. Witnesses say the suspect fled the accident scene in a hurry.
Tirop’s lifeless body was found lying on her bed Wednesday morning in Iten, with visible stab wounds on her abdomen.
President Uhuru Kenyatta ordered thorough investigations into the murder of a national hero.
