Eight Suspects In Ksh. 449M Fuliza Scam Freed On Bond

The eight suspects accused of defrauding Safaricom Kes 449 million through fuliza free after the court pronounced their bail and bond terms.

The eight suspects accused of defrauding Safaricom Kes 449 million through fuliza could not believe their ears after the court pronounced their bail and bond terms.

They appeared before Milimani Law Courts Chief Magistrate Susan Shitubi for their bail hearing.

The eight; Peter Gitahi, Isac Kipkemoi, Moses Rono, Collins Kipyegon, Maxwell Ributhu, Edwin Cheruiyot, Gideon Kipkirui, Gideon Kipkoech could not hide their shock as the learned magistrate gave them Kes 2 million bond with an alternative cash bail of Kes 1 million.

“In view with the nature of the alleged offense and the amount involved in the crime, it is prudent that this court grants the accused persons bond of Kes 2m or cash bail of 1m.” ruled the magistrate.

They were charged with various counts of stealing, having suspected stolen goods, and possessing National IDs belonging to other persons among other charges.

The case proceeds in Court.
