Gachagua Dares State: ‘Come Arrest Me If I’ve Broken the Law’

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has boldly challenged the government to arrest him if he has committed any offense under Kenyan law.

In a fiery address to the press on Monday from his Karen residence, Gachagua said he would not be intimidated by what he termed as “drama” from state agencies allegedly targeting him for political reasons.

“If the government knows that I have committed a crime… they know where my home is. I am here,” Gachagua declared, referencing his Wamunyoro residence in Nyeri. “The drama of waylaying us on the roads should stop.”

Gachagua went on to allege that a kill squad was allegedly sent by President William Ruto to ‘deal with him once and for all.. to the extent of using bioweapons.

“I received intelligence reports that President Ruto had ordered that I be dealt with once and for all. A killer squad of 101 officers from the National Police Service, National Intelligence Service, General Service Unit, and regular police was deployed yesterday to commit a heinous act against us,” he said.

‘Their instructions were to poison me using inhaled chemicals that would paralyse my brain within three months…’

This comes amid a political standoff triggered by allegations that Gachagua made inciteful remarks concerning the 2027 elections. Both Deputy President Kithure Kindiki and Interior CS Kipchumba Murkomen have accused him of threatening national unity and warned of imminent legal consequences.

“We will put you in jail, and there’s nothing you’ll do about it,” Murkomen said in a sharp statement, accusing Gachagua of fueling tribal divisions.

Gachagua, who reportedly went into hiding on Sunday evening to evade arrest in Murang’a, denied any wrongdoing and maintained that he is ready to cooperate if formally summoned.

Gachagua—who was impeached in October last year after a bitter fallout with Ruto—said the disarmament of his security detail is part of a broader attempt to silence him for exposing alleged corruption at the highest levels of government.

“Their fear is not me, it’s what I represent—a voice that speaks for Kenyans. Any attempt to stop me is a zero chance. Kenyans won’t be intimidated by the criminal justice system,” Gachagua declared defiantly.

He dismissed recent warnings by Deputy President Kithure Kindiki and Interior CS Kipchumba Murkomen over his political rhetoric.

Despite reported plans to arrest him for incitement, Gachagua maintains he has not received any formal summons and would honor them if issued.
