Gachagua: ‘Deep State’ Using Covid Funds To Campaign For Raila

Rigathi Gachagua, Kenya Kwanza’s presidential running mate, has attacked Interior Principal Secretary Karanja Kibicho in his Kirinyaga backyard, accusing him of intimidating residents into voting for Raila Odinga’s Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition leaders.

Speaking at the Kamiigua Youth Polytechnic ground in Gichugu constituency, the backyard of Azimio presidential running mate Martha Karua, Mr Gachagua avoided to directly criticise the Narc-Kenya leader, only saying she had no following.

The Mathira MP and the Kenya Kwanza brigade have been pointing their guns at Kibicho, his boss Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i, and DCI boss George Kinoti since they began their campaigns, accusing them of being behind their woes.

“You know Kirinyaga is the headquarters of deep state. Kibicho comes from here and he wants to control the politics of Kirinyaga. He wants to tell you who to elect. Will you allow him to intimidate you…will you succumb to his threats and intimidation?” Gachagua posed to the gathering.

The Kenya Kwanza presidential running mate also claimed that deep state was using money set aside to combat the Coronavirus pandemic to campaign for Raila Odinga.

He claimed that the deep state had stuffed Covid-19 cash into sacks and was handing it out to residents of Mt. Kenya in order to persuade them to vote for the Azimio la Umoja presidential candidate.

“Make sure you receive the cash from deep state but don’t sell your birthright due to food for the stomach,” Gachagua cautioned residents.

At the same time, he dismissed the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition’s attempt to consolidate Mt Kenya votes through Ms Karua, calling it a futile exercise.

“The residents have ignored Karua and Azimio coalition will not get votes from the region,” he claimed.

Gachagua, who was accompanied by Governor Waiguru and National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi, among other leaders, stated that Dr. Ruto’s government will seek better markets for coffee, tea, and rice farmers in order to increase their earnings.
