Gachagua: Murang’a MCAs Declined Ruto’s Invite to State House, Ksh300,000 Bribe

Former Deputy President and DCP leader Rigathi Gachagua claims that the Murang’a County Assembly leaders have declined President Ruto’s invitation to State House.

In a statement on Friday, September 12, he praised the Murang’a MCAs for what he described as their principled stand against alleged corruption and manipulation.

Speaking about the incident, Gachagua commended the county representatives for their integrity, claiming they declined a Ksh300,000 bribe.

Gachagua also criticized the head of state’s ongoing efforts to sit with grassroots leaders from different counties to discuss development projects in various regions.

“I want to salute the members of Murang’a County Assembly for their integrity and unwavering stand against corruption,” Gachagua stated.

“They refused to accept a Ksh 300,000 bribe to attend a staged comedy session at State House, where falsehoods were peddled and schemes to divide and betray the mountain were orchestrated.”

President William Ruto hosted grassroots leaders from Murang’a County at State House on Friday, where he outlined significant development projects allocated to the region.

During the meeting, President Ruto emphasized his administration’s commitment to moving away from divisive politics, stating, “There is no longer any room in Kenya for tribalistic and retrogressive politics that enrich a few at the expense of the many. We are charting a new course; one of bold, visionary leadership that transforms lives and unites our nation.”

At the State House meeting, President Ruto detailed substantial financial commitments to Murang’a County’s development agenda.

The President announced that the government has allocated Ksh 23 billion to construct 10,300 affordable houses, demonstrating the administration’s focus on addressing housing challenges in the region.

Infrastructure development also featured prominently in the announcements, with Ksh 3.5 billion set aside for road upgrades across the county.

The President further revealed plans for Ksh 2.3 billion to develop 23 modern markets to boost local commerce and trade opportunities.

Education infrastructure received attention with Ksh 3 billion allocated for new student hostels.

At the same time, an electrification project worth Ksh 850 million is expected to connect more than 10,000 households to the national grid by December.

Sports and water infrastructure were not overlooked, with the President committing to building two modern stadiums worth over Ksh 1.5 billion.

Additionally, a Ksh 2.4 billion water project will extend clean water access to Kangema, Mathioya, Kiharu, and Kandara constituencies.
