During the conference, Muturi took the opportunity to recommit the leaders to the principles of constitutionalism, devolution, and the protection of democratic freedoms that generations of Kenyans have fought to secure.

The DCP leader has reiterated the opposition’s intent to stay strong together, acknowledging the role of the Democratic Party of Kenya in Kenyan politics since it was formed.

“The 1992 and the 2002 election have taught Kenya great lessons; whereas the 1992 election was lost due by the opposition due to their to disunity, the 2002 political movement that liberated Kenya economically then was won on the premise of Unity and the power of the Kenyan voter that bad governance, corruption, poor policy and an overall economic slump and reckless ruling have no space in modern history. The August 10, 2027, General Election, on the promise of unity and a better Kenya cannot afford a 1992 moment but a stronger 2002 moment,” Rigathi remarked.

The coming together of the United Opposition reaffirms their commitment to remain together to form a coalition that will compete with the ruling party UDA, as preparations and political alignments for the forthcoming elections heat up.
