A Garissa court issued a landmark ruling in which a director of a private school in the county was sentenced to 35 years in prison for sodomizing a secondary school student.
Hussein Hassan Ali was found guilty of robbing the innocence of the 17-year-old boy who was a student at Mwangaza Private Primary and Secondary Schools, where he was also the principal, by Garissa Resident Magistrate Shadrack Otuke.
Garissa Resident Magistrate Shadrack Otuke said during his ruling that he was convinced by the prosecution’s evidence and sentenced the accused to 35 years in prison.
The sentencing concludes a case that has been pending since November 2021.
The victim, who was in Form 2 at the time, was later transferred to a secondary school in Malindi.
