The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) arrested a University administrator on suspicion of forging academic certificates to secure employment.
Abdihakim Dagane Hassan allegedly forged a bachelor’s degree certificate in order to be hired as a Clerical Officer in 2015. He then enrolled in a Masters program and was elevated to the post of Computer Technologist in 2019.
The accused, according to EACC, fabricated an undergraduate degree in Business Information Technology from Mount Kenya University and a master’s degree in business administration from Kenyatta University.
“Hassan, an employee of Garissa University, forged a degree certificate and academic transcripts for a Bachelor of Business Information Technology (BBIT) degree allegedly issued by Mt.Kenya University,” EACC stated.
“In April 2018, the suspect used the forged degree certificate to secure promotion from clerical officer to Computer Technologist, which was completed in 2019.” He held the same job till his arrest on April 17, 2023.”
