Gideon Moi Must Go, Sacked KANU Man Demands

The bad blood between sacked KANU secretary general Nick Salat now wants chairperson Gideon Moi to step down.

Mr.Salat who was suspended on Thursday by the KANU NEC for insubordination and misconduct including drunken allegations says Gideon has ruined the party and it’s time for him to allow fresh blood to lead.

Mr.Salat said he was suspended after he questioned why the KANU party managed to win only six positions for the MPs’ seats in the August general election compared to the previous term where the party had fourteen representatives in the national assembly.

“I want to let you know that Gideon is the interim chairman of the party. His position was to act till the election is conducted I don’t know where he got the powers to suspend me, yet we are both in interim positions,” he said.

“Those NEC who met to discuss me are not legitimate,” added Salat.

At the same time, he said he would not appear for any disciplinary action since the NEC members are illegally in office.

The elections, he said, have never been conducted to confirm them as officials with full authority and mandate as to suspend an official of the party.

Salat has been at loggerheads with Gideon especially since the party boss submitted to Parliament an application for the East African Legislative Assembly, a move Salat alleged was selfish.

Salat had also forwarded his name for consideration for nomination for EALA on the Kanu ticket, triggering a political standoff with Gideon who later pulled out.

Salat claimed the chairman has personalised the once vibrant party that it has lost its glory.
