The Kenya African National Union (KANU), Kenya’s longest-ruling party, celebrated its 63rd anniversary on Saturday.
KANU ruled for nearly 40 years after Kenya’s independence from British colonial rule in 1963.
Gideon Moi, the party’s leader, has written a letter explaining KANU’s 63-year history.
“Today marks KANU’s 63rd anniversary, a remarkable journey of endurance, optimism, and unwavering hope for Kenya.” “As we mark this occasion,” he said.
He also paid tribute to Mother’s Day, which he described as a time to appreciate the beauty and sanctity of motherhood while expressing heartfelt gratitude to all the wonderful mothers out there.
Gideon Moi took over the leadership of the Kanu party in April 2012, after retired President Uhuru Kenyatta stepped down to form TNA.
