The Second Governor of Kilifi Gideon Mung’aro has listed ten points that would form his agenda for his five-year term.

Mung’aro who was officially handed over the instruments of power by Former Governor Amason Kingi after being sworn into office in a colourful ceremony at Karisa Maitha Grounds said all his promises he made during campaigns would be fulfilled.

In his maiden speech, the Governor said his cabinet will be all-inclusive to ensure it reflects the face of Kilifi regardless of the different ethnic backgrounds.

Top on his agenda is to ensure the County will no longer have water problems in the next five years so that all residents have access to water at ease.

Further, The Governor said plans are underway to ensure the food insecurity is addressed as it has been a major challenge facing the people.

On tourism, Mung’aro said he would work with partners both local and international to market the county as a tourism destination so as to revive the sector which has suffered for a long time.

To make that possible the Governor said he would ensure there is proper infrastructure including expansion of the Malindi international airport, road networks, and a conducive environment for investors to do business.

he said Agriculture, Blue economy, and industrial development are among the key areas that his administration will focus on to transform the county and create job opportunities for the people.

“During my campaign, I promised to do ten things but I have prioritized four. These issues were not campaign promises but issues that I pledge to fulfil,” he said

He also listed Education, health, roads and water as the four priority issues that he will address.

“The outgoing government laid the foundation and we will take from where they left,” he added

He also said he would form the governor’s advisory council which he will serve as an advisory committee for his development roadmap.

Former Kilifi county governor Amason Kingi handed over all the instruments of power to Mung’aro and promised to offer advice should he need it.

“I am a son of this county and I am always ready to offer help to make this county successful. I did my best and it is time for you to propel the county ahead,” said Kingi
