Gor Mahia, AFC Fined Ksh.10 Million for Skipping Mashemeji Derby

Gor Mahia’s chairman Ambrose Rachier has termed FKF’s fine as trash.

This is briefly after the team alongside AFC Leopards were fined amounts totaling to Ksh. 10,000,000 for skipping the FKF Mashemeji derby that was scheduled for 31st June 2021.

Rachier’s arguments were based on the fact that the teams were not given an opportunity to be heard and no charges were framed.

He blamed the Federation for using the incident to conjure funds on claims without basis.

He called out the FKF for not following protocol by allowing both teams to face the disciplinary committee.

Both teams have not under any circumstances been called upon to answer why they missed out the game.

This is why Gor’s chairman is insistent on rendering the fines unjust and unwarranted.

Nick Mwendwa, the FKF chairman has acknowledged the fact that both teams are struggling financially and this is the main reason the fines will be recovered in gran until the full amount is settled.

The federation issued a further warning to both teams if they are to miss any future games.

He promised that relegation will be automated for any form of absenteeism from the games.

AFC Leopards are set to face Nairobi City stars today while Gor Mahia faces off Kakamega Homeboys tomorrow.
