Gor Mahia Football Club, one of Kenya’s most decorated football giants, has made a decisive break from its recent past by parting ways with its entire technical bench and security unit.
The shake-up, which takes immediate effect, was confirmed in a statement issued on July 2, 2025, and signed by club chairman Ambrose Rachier.
The announcement comes on the heels of a disappointing season for the 20-time FKF Premier League champions, who finished without silverware after falling short in both the league and cup competitions.
Despite early promise, the club stumbled in the closing stages of the campaign, surrendering the league title to Police FC and suffering a surprise FKF Cup final defeat to second-tier side Nairobi United.
Describing the decision as mutual, Gor Mahia said it followed a comprehensive internal review and forms part of a wider restructuring initiative as the club begins preparations for the 2025/26 season.
The outgoing technical team, whose tenure had grown increasingly turbulent amid criticism from fans, exits in what the club framed as an amicable and respectful conclusion to their service.
“Gor Mahia FC remains committed to building a solid foundation that will support competitive excellence both on and off the pitch,” read part of the statement, signalling a new era for a club seeking to reclaim its dominant status both locally and continentally.
The overhaul follows mounting pressure from fans who had grown frustrated with lacklustre performances, poor tactical discipline, and early exits from continental competitions.
There has been growing demand for a more modern and results-driven approach as the club grapples with heightened competition from rising sides like Police FC and Tusker.
