Government Postpones Kenya Defence Forces recruitment exercise

BY PRUDENCE WANZA – The government has postponed Kenya Defence Forces(KDF) Recruitment exercise which was to be held between 28th and 30th October 2019.

This is after the Cabinet Secretary for Defence and the Departmental Committee on Defence and Foreign Relations held a meeting over the recruitment centres to be used during the exercise.

The government had earlier indicated that the recruitment would take place at the county headquarters a move that the parliamentary committee vehemently opposed.

The MPs argued that the exercise should take place at the sub-counties to avoid locking out a huge number of youths.

Through an announcement in the dailies, the ministry of Defence has cancelled the recruitment after the meeting with the Departmental Committee on Defence and Foreign Relations.

The ministry has indicated that the decision was reached after taking into account the arguments of the parliamentary committee.

” The decision was reached after taking into account the valuable sentiments by members of the committee,” said the ministry.

The ministry will announce to the public a new schedule of the recruitment exercise.
