Government Reveals DP Ruto’s Vast Property

Deputy President William Ruto’s holdings, including a 22,000-acre estate, a 5-helicopter hangar, and a bevy of private dwellings, have now been revealed by Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i.

CS Matiang’i described DP Ruto as Kenya’s best-protected second-in-command since independence when testifying before the National Assembly’s Security Committee on Wednesday morning, noting that he has 51 police personnel patrolling his sprawling estate.

Six police officers patrol Kitengela gas, four manning the 395-hectare Murumbi Farm in Transmara Narok, and six more providing security at the DP’s 6073-hectare ADC Laikipia Mutara Ranch, Matiang’i told the committee.

Other police-guarded properties include: Dolphine Hotel, Mombasa (LR. No. MN/1/3266)-3 Hectares (6), Mata Farm – Taita Taveta (LR. No.10287/10 & 11) 2537 Hectares (6), Private Residence Elgon View Eldoret (4), Koitalel Poultry Farm Eldoret (4), Private Residence in Kosachei Eldoret (3 Prison (5).

This is in addition to the 121 officers assigned to the DP’s different residences by the Administration Police (AP) and Prisons Services.

There are also 74 Presidential Escort Personnel at the DP service, as well as 6 DCI officers and 5 GSU drivers.

The Interior CS said the DP’s residence is not part of what is termed a “protected area” where GSU officers offer security while providing light on the reorganization of the DP’s security.

“DP Ruto house is not a state lodge or a State House, the law is very clear it is his residence…… we in the security sector work to be right in terms of making decisions & not to being popular,” CS Matiang’i explained.

DP Ruto is guarded by 257 officers, according to the Interior Ministry’s head, who are also tasked with securing his residences and properties.

Matiang’i proved that all prior vice presidents had only 14 officers from the Presidential Escort Unit assigned to them, whilst Ruto has 74.
