Government Spent Ksh. 6.1 Billion On Research – Magoha

The National Research Fund (NRF) has helped the government spend Sh6.1 billion on research initiatives across the country in the last six years.

Prof George Magoha, the Education CS, said the government allocated Sh 5.8 billion through the research budget, with Sh284 million coming from development partners.

Agriculture and natural resource science, biological and health sciences, physical industrial and energy sciences, infrastructure and communication, humanity and social sciences, and earth and space science were among the areas where the research money was invested, according to the CS.

The CS stressed the importance of research in the education sector, stating that knowledge obtained from research programs aids the government in developing practical policies to address existing gaps.

He asked education stakeholders to become part of the Kenyans who can be counted on to create continual evidence to guide the CBC’s expansion to university levels.
