Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho led his Coast Azimio Presidential campaign in Kilifi County with a call to the residents to reject Deputy President William Ruto.
Governor Joho with a host of Kilifi leaders led by Kilifi ODM gubernatorial candidate Gideon Mungaro and Senator Stewart Madzayo held leaders meeting in Jaribuni(Ganze), Mariakani(Kaloleni) and held a stopover at Mazeras.
Other leaders in attendance included Kaloleni MP Paul Katana, his Ganze counterpart Teddy Mwambire and Kilifi County Woman Rep Getrude Mbeyu.
Governor Joho while addressing Mariakani residents said DP Ruto’ s double speak on the Mombasa port issue was a clear sign of a leader who does not have the interest of the country at heart.
“As we speak here in Mariakani, DP Ruto is in Naivasha taking credit for the government move to open the Naivasha Dry port. He is the same person who claimed recently in Mombasa that he would revert back the activities of the Mombasa port. What do you call this if not conmanship leadership,” said Governor Joho. He told the residents to make sure that they vote for Mr Odinga because he is the only leader capable of leading this country to greater heights.

The governor said that his first assignment as the Lands CS in Mr Odinga’s government will be to revoke the 2,500 acres of land Deputy President William owns in Taveta and give it to squatters.
Mr Joho said his focus will be to end landlessness at the Coast and bring the many land problems to an end.
“When I become the Lands, after I have been approved by parliament, my first assignment will be to take over the DP land in Taita Taveta and settle the thousands of squatters in that region. You can’t claim to have been given that huge piece of land. There is something you are not telling Kenyans because 2,500 acres is a big and huge chunk of land,” he said.
“I will revoke the DP’s ownership of that land and give it to squatters,” he said.
Mr Joho however said that this will only happen if the electorates vote for the Azimio Presidential candidate Raila Odinga and his ODM brigade in all elective posts.
“We have alot of plans for this country including addressing the land issue. But that will not be possible of you don’t vote for Mr Odinga and his ODM MPs, Senators and MCAs. Like for my case, I have to be vetted by Parliament, so if Mr Odinga does not have numbers in Parliament, it can affect my appointment at the lands docket. So in this regard, then vote in plenty for ODM and Azimio President who is Mr Odinga,” he said.
“Now as we plan to send the country s Presidency to Nyanza through Mr Odinga, Coast is also preparing to have the same in 2032 through me. So we are also just near to the Presidency,” he said.
Mr Joho faulted those pushing the election of DP Ruto agenda at the Coast saying they are lost since Ruto has done nothing for the Coast people.
“We are just a step away from Statehouse, an envy of every politician and then someone comes to give out a wheelbarrow. What for. We are a focused government under Mr Odinga and you can’t tell us to abandon the idea of joining the government which took years to shape,” said Mr Joho.
Mr Mung’aro also took issue with the DP’s double speak on port matters saying it has proven him as someone who can’t be entrusted with leadership.
“At the Coast Ruto promises to revert port activities to the region while in Nakuru, the same person thumbs up the same project and it’s significant to the people of Nakuru. That is a sign of a leader with little regards to the economic dynamics of the region. As Coast people, let’s remain focused and vote for Mr Odinga,” said Mr Mungaro
Mr Katana also said the DP was a good example of a watermelon in as far as port issues were concerned.
“While in Naivasha, the DP is applauding the Naivasha Dry Port saying it will create an enabling environment and job opportunities for the people of Nakuru and when he is at Coast promises otherwise. This is a leader we can easily name him as chameleon,” said Mr Katana.
Ganze MP Teddy Mwambire called on the people to vote for Mr Odinga as the next President. He said Mr Odinga has a wealth of experience in leadership and fits well in this position.
“On 9th August let’s all go and vote for our Azimio President Raila Odinga because in him, this country shall be liberated,” he said.
