Addressing residents of Nganja, Bambini and Mwembeni villages in Msambweni when he campaigned for Orange Democratic Movement(ODM) candidate for the by-election Iddi Omar Boga, Governor Kingi said not again shall coast be divided but rather must be glued together for the benefits of its people.

The Msambweni by-election is slated for December 15.

The governor lashed at Coast leaders who were telling Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho not to visit Msambweni for campaigns, terming it a very unfortunate talk which should not be tolerated.

“We have been saying that Coast should remain united but it is unfortunate that a coast leader would stand and bar another coast leader from visiting. The same leader would be happy to welcome an outsider from Rift Valley. Is Deputy President William Ruto your uncle,” the Governor said.

Kingi added that the unity of purpose must remain and the region should not be divided.

“This is the time that if you see as Coast politician pushing for the unity of this region, get hold of him and move on.

“The day we shall hold our hands from Vanga in Kwale County to Kiunga, in Lamu and speak in one voice that will shape our destiny. We cannot say that we are pushing for the coast unity and that should remain the core issue for this region,” he said.

The Governor said as other regions plan themselves towards the 2022 General Election, it was sad that the Coast region with a lot of challenges has remained divided and that is a sorry pointer to the expectations of the people.

“We shall speak as leaders and after the end of these campaigns, I will come back to Kwale, talk with fellow leaders, our elders, women and youths so that the unity of purpose is revived and go into elections as a coast bloc. That is our focus and we shall talk as leaders,” the Governor said.
