Governor Ndeti Flags Off Medical Supplies Worth 30 Million

Machakos governor Wavinya Ndeti has flagged off the third consignment of medical supplies from Mission for Essential Drugs and Supplies (MEDS) worth 30 Million.

In a post on her Twitter account, Wavinya thanked the MEDS Director for his commitment to working with the County Government on health sector.

“We appreciate the commitment by MEDS Director to work with the County Government to ensure that the health sector is adequately stocked with essential medicine as well as supporting medical quality assurance,” she tweeted.

Last month, the governor also distributed medical supplies worth Ksh 50 million from the Kenya Medical Supplies Authority (KEMSA).

Speaking at Machakos Level 5 hospital, Wavinya said they dispersed medicinal drugs and non-pharmaceutical items which would be distributed in all hospitals in the county from the level 5 facility to dispensaries.

Ndeti promised that her government would ensure that all hospitals are fully supplied with essential drugs, on quarterly basis and urged those in charge of the medical supplies to be accountable for receiving, use and security of the materials.

Ndeti further added that the drugs would minimize the patients’ cost on treatment since they would not have to buy the drugs from chemists like it has been for the past several years.
