Governor Ngilu steps in after rampant Kitui killings

Tension is high in Nzambani area of Kitui East following killings targeting women in the area that have see three people die in mysterious circumstances. ( Two among them women reportedly raped then killed) – By Philip Muteti.

In a quick move to address the issue, Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu visited the area on Wednesday after complaints of laxity in dealing with the issue on the side of area OCPD Joseph Obulo.

According to the area residents, police have not been able to arrest any suspects – therefore leaving the residents helpless and in fear.

In her remarks, Governor Ngilu called for immediate transfer of the area OCPD saying he had failed to guarantee security for the residents.

“I want to clarify here that the OCPD must go, we want him transferred from here. He’s failed and he will go, we’ll involve the President if the issue isn’t solved amicably.” Said Ngilu.

She further urged the national government to act decisively and come up with a lasting solution to the matter noting it was urgent.

The complaints were also addressed to the Kitui County Police Commandant Yoana Tanui.

The Governor was in company of Nzambani MCA Ruth Kyene.
