Governors Demand Release Of Delayed Funds

The Council of Governors has called on the National Treasury to expedite the release of delayed Ksh.87.34 billion pay, for the Months of January, Feb, March and April.

In a press briefing held at its Westlands office, the Martin Wambora led team appealed for the funds to enable it to carry out its functions.

Wambora said the council will also meet with the Central Bank, as well as the Controller of Budget to provide for overdraft facilities that will help cushion counties from the delay in disbursements of funds.

According to the Division of Revenue Act 2021, County Governments were allocated an Equitable share of revenue amounting to Kshs. 370 Billion.

However, Counties have only received Kshs. 221.6 Billion despite being two months to the end of the Financial Year.
